The trend on how everyone seems to be copying Apple just might be a huge coincidence. This time, Sony is the one to out gun Apple in the title of having the world’s thinnest tablet. The product has been named the new Tablet Viao Tap 11. However, here is the good news. The Viao tap 11 will not be a direct competitor to Apple’s iPad Air. Instead, this new product will be attempting to put a dent in Microsoft’s Surface Pro 2. Let us take a look at the specifications and pricing to see whether or not this product is balanced with the features and the price tag it carries.
SPECIFICATIONS
There are many storage ports being bundled with the chassis of this tablet in order to improve flexibility. A USB 3.0 port, a mini HDMI and a microSD port are present and if you happen to use all of them, then you are in luck. When the screen size is concerned, the Viao tap 11 comes with an 11.6 inch screen, and is able to give a 1920 x 1080 pixel display. Now, what is so different from this display’s resolution? We are glad you asked. Similar to SONY’s latest smart phones, this particular display is equipped with Sony’s Triluminos technology which was first used in the TV screens but now, for your visual experience, this technology has found its way to tablets as well.
Now, that this is over, we want to ask that are the features of this tablet similar to the technical specifications that it carries? Well, being incorporated with the Intel Haswell Processors, we would say that they are. The processor belongs to the Y series chip, and is a Core i5 4210 Y chip coupled with 4 GB of RAM. In terms of running the most basic of applications as well as multi – tasking will be something that this machine can easily handle but that does not mean you attempt to start playing 3D games on it. The SONY Vaio Tap 11 is devoid of any graphics chip except for the embedded GPU, but that still does not mean that you will be able to enjoy long hours of immersive gaming sessions.
To help you out with storage, the Vaio Tap 11 comes with 128 GB of storage. That kind of storage will not be sufficient for majority of the users but we keep forgetting that this is a tablet. Coming to the price, a $999 tag is something that lots of people will not be able to afford but in terms of specifications and features, the price is justified.
