We are currently experiencing a period of relative calm between major game releases, presenting an ideal opportunity to shift our attention towards smaller titles that often receive less attention. Microsoft’s recent summer ID@Xbox Livestream took full advantage of this opportunity by showcasing a variety of exciting indie games that will be available on Xbox One and Series X/S in the upcoming months and years.
The recent 10th annual ID@Xbox Showcase, presented by IGN, served as a pleasant reminder of numerous intriguing games that are either in the development stage or already available on PC and soon to be released on Xbox and other gaming consoles. While we were unable to catch a glimpse of Silksong, the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved Metroidvania game Hollow Knight, despite its continued popularity dominating discussions in Xbox livestream chats, we eagerly await its arrival, even after its official delay.
However, we were pleasantly surprised with the unexpected announcement of a remastered version of Karateka, the debut game from Prince of Persia designer Jordan Mechner. Additionally, we received the exciting news that the Axiom Verge 2 will be available on Xbox starting on July 11. Furthermore, gamers can enjoy the opportunity to try out several new indie games for free during the ongoing Demo Fest, which will continue until July 17. As for the remaining highlights of the event, we witnessed world premieres, new gameplay trailers, and release dates for nine other captivating games.
