Although the release of the iPhone 15 series is still roughly six months away, there have already been numerous rumours circulating about the device. The iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to come with several new features and changes, such as a titanium frame and more.

Outlined below are 11 features that have been rumoured for the iPhone 15 Pro models and are not anticipated to be included in the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus:

A17 chip

It is expected that the iPhone 15 Pro models will have Apple’s next-generation A17 Bionic chip. This chip will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process to provide further enhancements in performance and efficiency.

Titanium Frame

Similar to the Apple Watch Ultra, it is anticipated that the iPhone 15 Pro models will feature a titanium frame rather than stainless steel.

Faster USB-C Port

The iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to come equipped with a USB-C port that supports USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3, providing significantly faster data transfer rates when compared to existing iPhones with Lightning. On the other hand, the USB-C port on the standard iPhone 15 models is expected to remain limited to USB 2.0 speeds, similar to Lightning.

Ultra-Thin Curved Bezels

The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to have ultra-thin curved bezels around its display.

Increased RAM

Taiwanese research firm TrendForce has predicted that the iPhone 15 Pro models will come with an increased 8GB of RAM, while the standard models will likely maintain their current 6GB of RAM. The additional RAM can facilitate apps like Safari to retain more content active in the background, preventing the need to reload content when reopened.

Increased Optical Zoom for iPhone 15 Pro Max

Kuo has reported that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to come equipped with a periscope telephoto lens. This could result in the device having a minimum of 6x optical zoom, as compared to the 3x optical zoom present in iPhone 14 Pro models.

Solid-State Buttons

As per Kuo, the iPhone 15 Pro models will come with power and solid-state volume buttons. The analyst has also mentioned that the devices will have two additional Taptic Engines that will offer haptic feedback to imitate the sensation of pressing buttons, without the buttons actually moving, which is similar to the Home button on the latest iPhone SE or the trackpad on newer MacBooks.

Mute Button

Rumours suggest that the mute button will be a new feature in the iPhone 15 Pro models, which users can utilize to turn the ringer on and off. It is noteworthy that all existing iPhones have a mute switch.

Dark Red Color Option

9to5Mac reports that the iPhone 15 Pro models will have a new dark red colour option available.

Wi-Fi 6E

A leaked schematic report suggests that the iPhone 15 Pro will support Wi-Fi 6E for faster wireless speeds, similar to the latest Macs and iPad Pro.

Improved LiDAR Scanner

As per Kuo, the iPhone 15 Pro models are anticipated to have a more power-efficient LiDAR scanner, supplied by Sony. This development could lead to improved 3D depth scanning performance for AR apps and Night mode photos.

As the launch of the iPhone 15 series draws near, it is highly probable that people will rumour and speculate about additional features and specifications.
